REPORTS
Tracey Potter gave a report on the status of the FBO and Airport activities. She advised the status of fuel sales, maintenance/repair, and hangar activities.
Fuel sales for the month of September were 1,240.52 gallons of 100LL and JETA fuel was 1,449.43 gallons pumped. During the month we purchased 4,002 gallons of JetA fuel. Current prices are $5.82 per gallon for 100LL and $4.55 per gallon for JetA fuel. Total gallons on hand are 2,721 gallons of 100LL fuel and 4,314 gallons of JETA fuel.
Ms. Potter reported on the following:
- There will be another pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday, November 3.
- The community hangar report included usage for the period and activities.
- Two planes have been sold and will remain based here. Robert Thomas will keep his as a tie down. John Nolen will keep his plane in the main hanger. Both have been added to the T-Hangar waiting list.
- There are 13 on the T-Hangar waiting list.
- Kevin Brown is a new student who soloed.
- Minnie White called to say planes flying over her house are causing her a concern. She lives by Eagle Trace and says too many planes are flying repeatedly over her house. Ms. Potter noted her concern and provided Ms. White with the number of the FAA FSDO. Ms. White called the FSDO and reported her concern. The FSDO noted the complaint; no further action is anticipated.
Dr. Derrickson and Mr. James, Grounds Co-Chairs reported on several projects.
- Fourteen tons of hydrated lime was added to the soil to help establish the new grass work. This was four tons per acre. Seed will be added next spring. Ms. Potter and Mr. James observed the spreading job by the contractor (W. H. Shelley).
- The Forest Service (Mr. Anderson) will assist next spring in renovation of the north end of the field.
- The soil drainage issue will be revisited next spring also.
Mr. Brandstetter reported on five projects.
- AWOS. The Tower contractor will be here next week. After the contract for the AWOS is completed there will be a one-year warranty. After that time, the Airport Board will need to enter into a service contract.
- T-Hangar Construction. An entire set of drawings will be brought to the next meeting. Mr. Gray appointed a committee to review the plans following the next meeting. Serving on the committee will be Grounds Committee Co-Chairs Dr. Derrickson and Mr. James with Mr. Gray. For definition, a minority contractor may be a disadvantaged group.
- DBE Plan. The draft of the DBE plan was sent to the Office of Civil Rights. The plan may have five percent certified minority contractor(s). By definition, a minority contractor may be a disadvantaged group. Mr. Brandstetter noted that the State may require or give preference to the use of a disadvantaged business to perform the work (e.g., an 8(a) firm). The phone number of Ms. Marsh, “record keeper”, was added to the plan.
- Runway Storm Improvements. Funding has not been approved but will be prepared in a manner for individual components as funding becomes available.
- KTC Funded Paving Improvements. The project was not approved for FY 13 at this time but remains on the list for future consideration.
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Gray reported on repainting runway markings which are faded. He didn’t get a cost on the project. Mr. Farmer, Transportation Engineer Branch Manager, will advise a suggested contractor.
Ms. Marsh suggested that a Facebook page for the Air Show/Community Day would be a good way to share successes and promote the program within the community. There would be no cost. Several suggestions were made including adding photos, discussing additions to the Airport, plans for the next Community Day, logos/thank you to current sponsors, etc. Ms. Marsh will be the administrator. In order to “follow” the page, a visitor needs to “like” it, and new information will come to their Facebook page.
OTHER BUSINESS
Dr. Fossett reported that the Mt. Sterling FBO is selling a surplus JetA fuel truck. Information about the truck includes 1972 International; 2500 gallon steel coated tank; 2 calibrated meters; has single point and over the wing nozzles; filters and inspections are current; in daily use; approximately $4,500; could be converted to 100LL truck; advantages to having a JetA truck were discussed. Dr. Fossett will investigate and bring information to the next meeting.
