b. Lighting/Electrical Update. Mr. Oliver reported that the new lights have been installed in the community hangar. On some lights, the lens and covers were not installed due to concern of excessive extra heat build-up. Mr. Trent Hamilton’s lift was used for installation. Mr. Oliver will follow up with FMRECC for rebate. Ms. Potter was requested to ask FMRECC to inspect the outside lights on the original set of T-Hangars. Water gets in them and many lights are out.

Concerning the issue reported by Mr. Samuell (PHI) at the last meeting concerning the incorrect airport identifier (NC 17) when checking SYM weather, Mr. Laferty confirmed the problem with the chief pilot for PHI, and contacted both the FAA and NOAA in Jackson about the problem. #6 Hangar Lease Update: Dr. Mattingly reported that a long sought after signed hangar lease agreement was received during this meeting by email. The lessee’s hangar rent is paid through December. NEW BUSINESS

Flying After Sunset Safety Issue. Dr. Fossett reported that he flew into the airport one evening after the sun had set, and saw three powered parachutes still flying near the runway. He had difficulty seeing them and determining exactly where they were as he flew the landing pattern. They did have strobe lights but the parachutes blocked visibility. Sterling. Local auditors will be requested to see if they want to make an audit bid. Mr. Dailey will report at the next meeting.

OLD BUSINESS

Nominating Committee: Mr. Gray reported that the committee (Mr. Laferty, Chairman, Mr. Gray and Dr. Derrickson) met at Mr. Laferty’s house. After a careful review, they propose to keep the present officers as the nominated slate consisting of Mr. James, Chairman; Mr. Dailey, Vice-Chairman, and Dr. Mattingly, Secretary-Treasurer. The vote will be at the next meeting on June 25. In addition, the committee commended several former members for their hard work and expressed a desire to show the appreciation through a plaque or framed certificate. A permanent plaque in the conference room with names added each year was suggested. The Executive Committee will review this recommendation and report back at the next meeting.

City Representation: Mr. Roberts reported that Morehead Mayor Trent apologized for the oversight of not including the airport as a community partner for economic development, and will include in future presentations. He would like to have some aerial pictures of the airport and area for his presentations.
