REPORTS
1. Garver Report: Mr. Mittlesteadt
- Grant closeout for T-Hangar project.
Documents to close out the 2014 T-Hangar Grant project are needed. Mr. Mittlesteadt agreed to provide assistance in closing out this grant. Many items are needed to forward to the FAA including construction materials, daily observations, construction photos, pre/post meeting minutes, substantial completion document, red-lined plan set, etc. Mr. Dailey called BCI about these documents and the close-out. Mr. Beattie was to pick up the red lined plans on Friday, July 31 at the airport. It appears that BCI is working on the close-out.
- Emergency Taxiway and Runway Repairs.
Board members (Tim James, Bruce Mattingly), the FBO (Mike and Tracey Potter) and Mr. Mittlesteadt met with KDA about an emergency grant (no local or FAA match) for taxiway and runway repairs. The meeting was favorable with officials receptive to the safety and urgency of the repairs. - The KAA conference this year is in Owensboro. Garver will host a dinner during the conference. Email addresses of all board members will be forwarded to Mr. Mittlesteadt for a personal invitation.

d. Replaced and repaired runway lights.
e. Wes Coldiron, Jailer, had the prisoners out again to weed eat around runway lights and ditches.
f. A pilot using the courtesy car had a slight fender bender over the weekend. There was no damage to our car and some cracked plastic on the other car. We do not make a copy of the license of the driver of the courtesy car.
g. Harris & Leach came to inspect the AWOS and replaced the power pack. It is larger than the one which was inside the AWOS equipment, but less expensive. It sits outside the equipment because it is larger. There is a back up battery now as designed.
h. The next breakfast will be August 1.

OLD BUSINESS
Status/Estimate to Repair Hangar B6. An estimate was received from JAVE, LLC to repair the damage to B6 which was $2,000. There would be 4-5 pieces of sheet metal involved in the repair. A review of the damage indicated purlins are not bent. Mr. Samuell has said he will reimburse the board for the cost of the repair.
A motion to go into Executive Session to discuss legal and contractual issues was made by Mr. Dailey, seconded by Mr. LeMaster, and approved unanimously. No actions were taken during the executive session. After a motion by Dr. Derrickson, seconded by Mr. LeMaster, the oard return to open session. Mr. James indicated that the board would continue to consider options for the repair of Hangar B6.
NEW BUSINESS
Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) – River City – Ashland: Mike Osborne. The SCCA is composed of sports car enthusiasts but is not a street racing group. The group hosts auto cross events which feature short courses set up with cones and safety stewards. The group is requesting permission to host an autocross on a Saturday or Sunday in August, September, or October, which in the past have been attended by 10-15 persons. Participants wear helmets and use safety belts. Gravity Falls Motor Sports had an event at the airport earlier this year which was much larger than the Ashland group will have. It went very well. The timetable would be 8am – register, and approximately a 30-45 second course. Each participant may run the course 5 or 6 times during the morning event, lunch would follow, with similar afternoon sessions. Insurance and contract would be issued by the home office of SCCA which would sanction the event.
Advertising would be on the SCCA website, Facebook, and KY Horsepower (https://www.kyhorsepower.com) and club magazine. The group is not a charity. They would not pay for use of the airport, but would charge a fee to use the course. It is difficult for the group to find a big, flat area in which to hold the events. The benefit to the airport would be economic. There may be those that attend who are looking for flight instruction or are not aware of the facility. Those attending from out of town will likely eat at local restaurants and buy gas at local stations. It was noted that this activity would not stop the business of the airport; i.e. if a jet comes in, the course would be removed or altered to allow access to the airport and the fuel farm. No car shows are associated with the event.
The motion to allow the River City SCCA to host one event at the airport with the group selecting the date and coordination with the FBO was made by Mr. LeMaster, seconded by Mr. Dailey, and approved unanimously. After a review of the event, other dates may be scheduled. The Tourism Commission will be notified of the event and it will also be posted on our website.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 7:29 pm.
