REPORTS

FBO.

Tracey Potter reported on the status of the FBO and Airport activities.  She advised the status of March fuel sales, grounds maintenance, and hangar activities. Fuel sales were 750 gallons of 100LL and 530 gallons of JETA fuel.  The monthly Community Hangar report included PHI Helicopter, Jamie Samuel, and Kevin Brown for a total of $600.  JAVE Inc. staked for the additional hangar project, and delivered track hoe excavator; and Morehead Utility Plant Board marked off the dig areas for water lines. JAVE Inc. suggests changing the specification on the concrete pour as it may be susceptible to crack. Also, they were concerned about a cement square and the wind sock which would be eliminated during construction. The new T-hangar will interfere with the wind sock. Runway lights were replaced and evaluated reasons why others will not work other than light bulbs. Seven lights would not come back on after replacement. None of runway indicator signs will come on. Reel lights on runway 2 have a NOTAM. Signs are also still out. Three Community Hangar lights need ballasts. One outside hangar light and several exterior T-Hangar lights will not operate due to water runoff. The fence line was sprayed with weed killer. An airport inspection was conducted by Mr. Steve Marcozzi. His letter indicated that plastic inspection tags are needed for fire extinguishers. These were requested during the extinguisher inspection in November 2013. There will be a Wings and Wheels event here on May 17 which includes a car show and poker run and SCCA Autocross event here on May 18. The Rowan County High School Art Department will paint a compass rose during the week of April 27. Paint was purchased from Sherwin-Williams for the new design. Mr. Mike Clingenpeel was here to look at buying the grounded Merlin. There will be a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on May 3.

Mr. Dailey requested that the FBO provide fuel tank history as part of the FBO report.

Mr. Dailey requested information from the Potters on the surplus truck so that it could be advertised and sold. He also reported that the regulator building equipment remained uninsured due to lack of inventoried equipment in the building.

Grounds

Dr. Derrickson, Co-Chair, went over actions.

  • Runway/Taxiway crack sealing cost estimate reviewed.

NEW BUSINESS

Fuel Truck.  Dr. Fossett presented sale information on a 100LL fuel truck at the Montgomery County Airport. It is a Ford F600 circa 1972 model with a 300 straight six engine. Mr. Danny Hill quoted a price of $4,300. No action was taken due to lack of funds.

Nominating Committee. Dr. Derrickson, Chair, Mr. Stinson, Mr. Laferty recommended that the Board elect new officers at this meeting to give the new officers an opportunity to become more informed regarding the budget, funding from the city and county, provide assistance in the negotiation of an FBO contract and work with the current officers as necessary to insure a good transition.  This would be an exception to the current bylaws when officer elections are to incur in June.  Following a discussion, a motion was made by Dr. Derrickson and seconded by Oliver to proceed with the election.  The motion was approved with one abstention.  Dr. Derrickson then moved to nominate Mr. Tim James as Chair, Mr. Porter Dailey as Vice Chair and Dr. Bruce Mattingly as Secretary/Treasurer whose terms would commence on July 1, 2014 and that the outgoing chair serve as a member of the executive committee.  Mr. Oliver seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.

On a motion by Mr. Laferty and a second by Mr. Oliver, the Board unanimously approved going into Executive Session at 7:35 pm to discuss legal matters. The Board returned to public session at 7:55.

ADJOURNMENT

Mr. Gray adjourned the meeting at 8 pm.
