Morehead, KY. October 10, 2017. KY Department of Aviation Recognizes Tim James as General Aviation Airport Board Member of the Year

Tim James, Chairman of the Morehead-Rowan County Airport Board, was recognized by the Kentucky Department of Aviation and the Kentucky Aviation Association as its General Aviation Airport Board Member of the Year. The honor was announced by the Department at the Association’s 41st Annual Conference in Lexington held on September 27-29, 2017. The recognition is given to a general aviation airport board member who embodies a significant depth of knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry. Kentucky has 59 general aviation airports.

James has served on the Morehead-Rowan County Airport Board since 2013, and is in his fourth year as its chair. Mr. James is an avid single engine airplane and glider pilot, and is a Retired Special Agent from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). James also serves as a Special Deputy Sheriff with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

“Congratulations to our very own Tim James for being named General Aviation Board Member of the Year,” said Morehead Mayor Jim Tom Trent who nominated James for the award. “His hard work, dedication, and leadership to the Morehead-Rowan County, Clyde A. Thomas Regional Airport, has been essential to its operation and continued growth.” Rowan County Judge Executive Walter Blevins added, “Tim James is very deserving of this statewide recognition.  His leadership, along with the volunteer service of the entire Board, brings positive attention to the important role our airport plays in the growth and prosperity of our community.”

The Kentucky Aviation Association is a non-profit association that promotes aviation and airport management in the Commonwealth through networking and professional development opportunities. Approximately 250 aviation professionals attended this year’s conference to participate in educational sessions and have the opportunity to network with industry colleagues and governmental leaders.
