Experimental Aircraft Association

About Us

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to aviation promotion. Aircraft building, aviation advocacy, safety, and education are among its top themes.

The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1525 is about people, bringing together individuals interested in learning more about aviation as well as sharing their own knowledge.

The Bluegrass Flyers EAA Chapter 1525 is one of more than 1,000 chapters worldwide. Based at Morehead-Rowan County Clyde A. Thomas Regional Airport, EAA Chapter 1525 supports local Aviation Education Programs, particularly among our youth.

Chapter members are involved in a variety of social and educational activities, including Young Eagles rallies, fly-ins, building seminars, and more, to build awareness in the community. Our driving theme: Giving Wings to the Next Generation!

The Future Taking Flight

Young Eagles Program

Aviation Programs and STEM Classes

Rowan County and Morgan County have both adopted a 4-year aviation-based curriculum to complement high school level Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math classes (STEM). The Aviation Curriculum is linked to nationwide standards of learning principles and may replace some other STEM classes. The Airplane Owner and Pilot Association (AOPA) provides the nationally-acclaimed curriculum free of charge to help address growing nationwide pilot shortages.

Bluegrass Flyers Flight Training Scholarship Program

EAA Chapter 1525 has implemented a Flight Training Scholarship Program for promising aviation students. EAA Chapter 1525 provides administration and student mentoring for this training program.

EAA Chapter 1525 plans to continue their Flight Scholarship Program in the future with the help of local individual and organization donations. EAA International has pledged to assist with matching funding. Donation forms are available in the Morehead-Rowan County Clyde A. Thomas Regional Airport FBO.

$10,000 Flight Training Scholarships have been funded by EAA International for two of our aviation students over the past 5 years.

Build Your Own Aircraft

EAA also provides guidance and support for members who desire to build their own aircraft.

“EAA was founded in 1953 by a group of airplane enthusiasts mostly comprised of airplane builders. EAA has been the organization of record as the homebuilt movement moved from simple, single=place tube-and-fabric airplanes 60 years ago to today’s wide spectrum of aircraft that feature plans-and kit-built models.”
